3THINGS THAT HAS TO GO

Football is the most played and highly televised sport in the world . Football is the fuel for excitement and to some extent heart breaks. Every sport like football has rules and these rules make the game more competitive and attractive, these rules keeps the animal side of us in the bag and creates fairness.
Football is sometimes considered as one of the most boring sport in the world because of some rules in the game.
Yes! the  rules are the culprits here - Hopefully not all of them.
Tonight we are going to look at the bad ones and reasons why they need to go.

1.OFFSIDES

yes , you can go ahead and make all the noise that they make the game interesting and really nobody argues to the fact that a defensive team intentionally drawing up to set up an offside trap when they are leading makes the game overly dramatic. The reason why offside rules was brought up was because English public schools in the early 1800's wanted to make  it harder for goals to be scored.
The rule found its way into the official rule book as the game developed in the 1860's although it was widely protested against by some football teams .

Off-sides make the game too defensive and makes the game slow paced which in turn makes the game goal deficient . Just imagine if the offside rule was in basketball and LeBron James or any forward's fast-break dunk  is called off because he happened to be in an offside position  , Just imagine!
In all ,the offside rule is old age stuff . lets leave it for the kids in elementary school . Its time for competitive football to be competitive!

2. CONTINUOUS CLOCK

Have you ever wondered why the clock keeps moving when no play is in action ? I just don't get it .why should the damn clock be moving when play has been put on hold ? The game is scheduled for 90mins , so why should a player fake an injury just to waste time for the other team to lose . Lets take an example from basketball again. When there is a halt , the clock is paused and when play resumes , it is resumed , so no time wastage by the corn artists who pose as players . Active clock control will eliminate the additional time added on thingy . Honestly is quite a shame when refs add more than what is expected and ends up giving a frustrating advantage to one team.
lets make the game exciting . Lets stop the clock . Time is money folks ,lets save it .

3.ONE TIME SUB

The third thing  on my list which seriously needs to go is the one time sub rule. In football a team can only substitute three times and its an "in out" situation not an "in out in" situation . Players are humans and we cant seriously think the can play at 100% the whole 90 mins . We often see a bunch of players on the bench waiting to get a chance to play but never make the cut-list because the coach doesn't want to exhaust his limit and that kills the morale of these bench warmers.

The one time sub should be removed , so players can be subbed out and subbed in again when they are well rested and also the maximum limit of substitutions must be removed , so everyone gets the chance to play .  The unlimited substitution rule will make the game more action packed and exciting . Just imagine how exciting the game will be when C.Ronaldo or Messi or even Hazard is rested when fatigue sets in around the 60th mark and brought back in the 80th to give a late boost . This will make the game very intriguing and more competitive. It is done in other sports and the fans love it so why not try it in football.

Although some of the bad rules did not make it on the list , they are worth honorary mentions : One time final matches should be changed to Best of three, no more Extra Time and finally Video refs should be added permanently .

Thank you for reading and I know you have loads of comments and tantrums to throw. leave  a comment and don't forget  to share . Next week we are going to look at Mixed Gender Sports . Hope to see you.

APPIAH RETURNS

Ghana’s favourite son is back or should I say Kotoko’s star boy is back. Judging from the poor management of Ghana’s former coach - Avram Grant, It was imperative that Ghanaian fans will turn on him . Coach Avram Grant’s stay in Ghana as the head coach of the senior side and earning close to about 250,000 cedis was seen as greedy and wicked by ordinary citizens who hardly made any income in the supposedly corrupt Government, that was sent packing in the 2016 general elections. Avram Grant left the coaching position and the Country in the first week of February,2017 after repeated speculations that he was going to be fired within that month – could say he prevented a major career disgrace! Avram Grant will surely not be missed by Ghanaians in anyway ,but one person who’s exit from the senior national side was missed by most Ghanaians in the “Don of Grant”  was Ghana’s own James Kwesi Appiah ,who managed the senior side from 2012-2014 and went into the record books as the first G...

Kwadwo Asamoah Dropped From Inter Milan’s Europa League Squad

After playing in the Champions League earlier, the Ghana international is missing from Antonio Conte’s squad for the secondary European competition. Kwadwo Asamoah will not be playing for Inter Milan in the knockout stage of the Uefa Europa League this season. The 31-year-old was excluded from the selection on Monday while Nigeria’s Victor Moses made the 22-man team for the competition. Asamoah’s last outing for the Nerazzurri was against Roma on December 6 when he came on as a 72nd-minute substitute, and since then, he has been battling to regain match fitness after recovering from a knee injury. He was an unused substituted in Inter Milan’s 2-0 win over Udinese on Sunday and featured in three Champions League games before their eventual demotion to the Europa League. Meanwhile, Moses who reunited with Antonio Conte after completing a six-month loan from Chelsea in January, joins other new signings like Christian Erikse...
