THREE REASONS WHY AFRICAN REFS ARE DISRESPECTED

Referees play a major role in every sporting activity. From the Umpire in tennis to the video Referees in basketball, these men and women serve as neutral grounds between the left wing and the right wing. Some people argue as to why one person should be given the power to control an instance of a multi-million-dollar industry -- Sports -- well the short and simple answer to this misconception is that Referees don't control the game; they simply keep the game balanced and in keeping the game balanced they depict some veto power, which is unquestionable on the field of play but subject to review after a game -- lots of power for one person right?  Some Refs though seem to be corruptible and if they are bought , they become bad influence .  Referees are the most honest and trustworthy humans in the world. Referees are groomed and trained to the highest level and sometimes physically tested to meet the requirement  of an athlete. Honesty, Trust and Athleticism. If these

Hello  and welcome to this week's edition of Sports by  FT9. This week we focus our attention on the just ended GUSA cross country competition on UMaT campus -- Sports by FT9 headquarters. The last time  a GUSA competition was held on UMaT campus was six years ago and it was a competition of the same nature as the one held today.  The various teams arrived on UMaT campus on Thursday, 2nd November,2017 and were officially welcomed to UMaT by the Vice Chancellor , Professor J. S. Y. Kuma  on Friday, 3rd November,2017. A total of 9 public universities registered for the competition : UMaT , UG (Legon) ,UHAS,KNUST, UEW, UCC, UPSA, UDS and UENR . The competition was governed by IAAF rules  and the mandatory number of athletes both male and female required to compete was 10 athletes each , this basically meant if a team had less than 8 athletes then they will  be allowed to compete but will not score any point. The distance for both the male and female competit

MGS A REALITY ?

Welcome welcome welcome! Its another weekend and I'm here to give you your weekly dose of Sports by FT9 .  This week we look at Something odd -- maybe not all that odd -- abstract ? Not abstract either .  Today we look at Mixed Gender Sports(MGS) .  What is MGS ? Mixed Gender Sports is a natural disaster phenomenon which occurs when you put males and females together on the same pitch or court or whatever to play competitively.  Why is MGS even a thing ?  Feminism . F eminism  is a range of  political movements ,  ideologies , and  social movements  that share a common goal: to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social equality of sexes. so yeah there you have it . Rights for equal goals is why women now want to play alongside men . Although some people  argue  that MGS is not right , others think it makes no difference including women in men sports , and truth be told they are right .  Sporting activities l

3THINGS THAT HAS TO GO

Football is the most played and highly televised sport in the world . Football is the fuel for excitement and to some extent heart breaks. Every sport like football has rules and these rules make the game more competitive and attractive, these rules keeps the animal side of us in the bag and creates fairness. Football is sometimes considered as one of the most boring sport in the world because of some rules in the game.  Yes! the  rules are the culprits here - Hopefully not all of them. Tonight we are going to look at the bad ones and reasons why they need to go. 1.OFFSIDES  yes , you can go ahead and make all the noise that they make the game interesting and really nobody argues to the fact that a defensive team intentionally drawing up to set up an offside trap when they are leading makes the game overly dramatic. The reason why offside rules was brought up was because English public schools in the early 1800's wanted to make  it harder for goals to be scor

APPIAH RETURNS

Ghana’s favourite son is back or should I say Kotoko’s star boy is back. Judging from the poor management of Ghana’s former coach - Avram Grant, It was imperative that Ghanaian fans will turn on him . Coach Avram Grant’s stay in Ghana as the head coach of the senior side and earning close to about 250,000 cedis was seen as greedy and wicked by ordinary citizens who hardly made any income in the supposedly corrupt Government, that was sent packing in the 2016 general elections. Avram Grant left the coaching position and the Country in the first week of February,2017 after repeated speculations that he was going to be fired within that month – could say he prevented a major career disgrace! Avram Grant will surely not be missed by Ghanaians in anyway ,but one person who’s exit from the senior national side was missed by most Ghanaians in the “Don of Grant”  was Ghana’s own James Kwesi Appiah ,who managed the senior side from 2012-2014 and went into the record books as the first Ghana
